This old menu is from The Original Coney Island Sandwich Shop which apparently opened on Washington Street in 1921. The triple fold menu inside reminds us of another time for sure. The special Coney Island hot dog with fries was a whopping 15c. Only two dinner cost 35c and the most expensive meals on the menu were full breakfast entrees with coffee for 45c. The front of the menu has the fun logo with the phrases “A Meal in Itself” and We Never Close”. I believe this menu is from the late 1930’s or early 1940’s. This is a wonderful souvenir of a restaurant that no longer exsists.
It measures about 4” by 9 ¼” in its closed state and about 12” wide when open. It is in nice condition with light crease wear and minimal soiling. It has been folded in half at some time, probably to put in a pocket.
