These two old ice cream dippers are from Canada. These were inexpensive scoops which can be seen in the way they were manufactured.
On the front portion of the thumb lever, the first one is marked; Fisher - Made in Canada - Orillia Ont. It is made of nickel and brass with a wooden handle. It is a size 20 (twenty scoops to the quart), round bowl and is marked 20 on the thumb lever. The back of the lever looks like it is stamped; EHS.
It measures about 10 1/2" in length and the bowl measures about 2 1/8” in diameter. The bowl was poorly cast and has a textured finish on the outside and a dark solder line where the bowl is attached to the shank. The inside and outside of the bowl show wear with light scratches. The wiper extends slightly outside the bowl when released but works well. The handle is in fair condition.
The second dipper is a Tudhope from the same company. Marked on the front portion of the thumb lever is; Tudpole - Orillia, Ont. - Made in Canada. It is made of nickel plated brass with a wooden handle. This is a size 24 (twenty-four scoops to the quart), round bowl and is marked 24 on the thumb lever.
It measures about 10 ¼” in length and the bowl measures about 2” in diameter. Most of the plating on the shaft and thumb lever is good with minor wear but the inside and outside of the bowl shows considerable wear with scratches, pitting and discoloration. The mechanism works well and the handle is in nice condition.
Priced and sold as the pair.
