This remarkable old piece honoring the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, is made of celluloid. It is for the Past Grand Noble of the Grand Assembly of Walla Walla in 1908. The detailed celluloid piece has an obelisk in the center and reads; Oddfellows Home Monument Unveiled June 1908 - Walla Walla. Below that is the IOOF and All Seeing Eye, the Three Link Emblem for friendship, love and truth, a circle with a tent like symbol which maybe an encampment variation and a circle with symbols representing the Rebekah Lodge. The original ribbon attaches the celluloid piece to the badge which has a pin attached to the back of it. Stamped into the back of the metal is; Whitehead & Hoag Co. of Newark N.J..
The celluloid portion measures about 2 ½” by 1 9/16”, the pin portion measures about 2” wide by 1 1/8” and the overall length is about 5”. It is in very good condition with minimal wear. There is a slight amount of fading and soiling to the ribbon with a tiny tear to the top right edge of the ribbon.
