These fun Santa faces are sock coasters for holiday high ball glasses. They are made of a red stretchy terry cloth like fabric with applied felt faces. There are six of them and they could slip over a candle or even a small canning jar to bring on the feeling of Christmas. These come in their original box with the Santa graphics on the lid but they do not come with the Bottle Cover that originally came with the set. The box shows these were made in Japan for Dan-Dee Imports of New York. I would assume them to be from the late 1950’s or 1960’s.
In un stretched condition the coasters measure about 2 ¼” across by 5” to the top of Santa’s hat. I have not tried to stretch them open to see how big they might get because the elastic is more than 50 years old and may not stretch more than once. Aside from the questionable elastic they are in very good condition with minimal wear. The colors are bright and colorful and ready to be used for decorating. The box measures about 10” by 11 ¾” by ¾” and is in good condition with light wear. There is some soiling on the lid and one corner is torn. As previously stated the Santa Bottle Cover that is shown on the box lid is missing from this set.
