This old bread or salad plate is from a restaurant called Roberts Fish Grotto. Apparently the restaurant was a favorite establishment of downtown Sacramento in the 1950's and 1960's. The plate has a nice graphics with an under water scene of fish and seaweed done with the stenciled airbrush technique which is appropriate for the underwater illusion. Across the top of the plate it reads; Roberts Fish Grotto Sacramento. On the bottom is the green Syracuse China U.S.A. company mark with a date code that dates it to July 1958. . It measures about 7 1/4” in diameter and is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage.
