This is a small, old flashlight that appears to be made of a dark brown Bakelite. It is a short cylinder with thin, molded ribs and a domed, screw-on top. The top of the dome has a hole that exposes the small light bulb. It takes a single, C-cell battery and the light bulb screws into the metal insert in the dome. There is no on/off switch. Screwing the dome tight creates the contact that lights the bulb. Loosening the top disconnects the current to turn it off. The back end reads; Made in U.S.A. and I believe this is from the late 1930’s or early 1940’s.
It measures about 3 ¼” long and the base measures about 1 ¼” in diameter. It is in good condition with minimal wear and it does work. The inside of the battery compartment appears clean and the original tension spring is inside. Battery Not Included, however the bulb is.
