This old thimble from the Simons Bros. is made of sterling silver. It has an elaborate design of grape clusters, grape leaves and tendrils wrapping around ¾ of the band. Along the bottom edge it is marked Pat. Jul. but beyond that I cannot make out the date but I would assume it is from the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. The other panel has an outlined area that could have a monogram. It is not monogrammed but here is the number 10 which I would assume to be the size. Inside there is the shield hallmark with a stylized S in it denoting the Simons Bros. company. Above the shield it is stamped Sterling.
It measures about 7/8” high and about 5/8” in diameter and is in very nice condition with minimal wear and no holes in the stippled area. There is minor scratch wear from sewing needle work.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
