This thin porcelain cup and saucer is decorated with the beautiful blue willow design in the rich cobalt blue generally referred to as flow blue. When the cup is held to the light you can see the lithophane, an oriental woman with incredible detail, in the bottom of the cup. There is an original red, oval, foiled paper label that reads; Made in Japan on the bottom of the cup which obstructs the full beauty of the geisha but I don’t want to remove the label since it is original to the piece. I believe this is from the 1940’s or 1950’s.
The cup measures just over 1 ½” high and 3” in diameter excluding the handle. The saucer measures about 4 7/16” in diameter. They are both in very nice condition with minimal wear and no damage.
