This old pair of scissors is a pinker from the Singer sewing machine company. It has a saw-toothed edge, not straight, so it would cut a notched edge that was thought to unravel less than a straight edge. These are a well made pair of shears that were considered to be a “precision instrument” according to the guarantee that came with them. They are marked with the model number C848 and they were made in Brazil. They are all metal and fully plated. I believe these were from the late 1960’s.
I believe these are for a left handed seamstress. I am right handed and I tried to cut with them without success. Then I tried them with my left hand and they cut beautifully as shown in the photo.
The scissors measure about 7 ½” long and are in very good, minimally used if at all.
They come in their original box with the insert in tact and the guarantee slip. The box has the trademark of the Singer Company and it has a small label with same model number that’s on the shears. The box measures about 3 1/8” by 8 3/16” by ¾” and is in nice condition with minor edge and corner wear. There are some ink marks that appear to be covering up a price.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
