This funny old mug has a lot of western character. The background looks like a tree trunk with knotholes and the bands look like braided rope. The handle looks somewhat like a hillbilly with a goatee but by his hat and holster and the lasso in one hand and the pistol he’s reaching for I think he’s suppose to be a cowboy. It looks like there’s a piece of cloth draped on the front and a large horseshoe opposite the handle. Very busy and very colorful with all of the decoration under glaze. On the bottom it is marked Made in Occupied Japan.
It measures about 4 3/4” high to the top of his bald head and about 4 ¼” to the top edge of the mug. The rim of the mug measures about 2 3/8” in diameter excluding the handle and the bottom measures about 3 1/8“ in diameter. It is in very nice condition with minimal wear and no damage.
