These wonderful prints were done by the artist Gig who did the Pity Kitty series in the 1960’s. These three pictures show the mixed personalities of cats. One is a tabby cat defiant authority. I believe his proper title is Yard Buy. The next is a crossed eyed Siamese kitten whose title is apparently Ecstasy. The last cat is black and looks like he could take on any Halloween prank thrown his way. He is generally referred to as The Growler. These prints were apparently printed as stationery with paw prints on the inside of the folded sheet. The paper is slightly textured. The paper prints are in metal frames with protective glass. Although the frames are metal they have a fake wood grain and look like blonde wood with an inner gold edge. They have the backs with foldout easels and metal hanging clips plus the addition of another hanger. I believe the frames are from the same time period as the prints. I believe these are from the early 1960’s.
The frames measure about 6 1/8” by 8 1/8” and are in very good condition with minimal wear and no broken glass. I have taken the prints out of the frames so I can say they are in very good condition with only minor age discoloration along the bottom edge. None of the prints have been cut but one, the Siamese, has been fold once across the center at some time and it was also used as stationery as shown in the photos.
Priced and sold as the set of three (3).
