This is an old kitchen tool for straining loose tea leaves. The brass strainer has small holes to filter the leaves and the straining bowl is framed with a beautiful edge and handle. The end of the handle looks like a fleur d’ les floral embellishments. Below the fleur d’ les there appears to be a mans face but that might be my imagination. The two cupids are reaching up to the face and between them is a flower basket. A garland of flowers encircles the strainer bowl. On the back it is stamped; Italy. I believe it is from the early 1900’s.
It measures about 6 7/8” in length by a little over 3 ½” wide. The bowl portion measures about 2 1/8” in diameter by maybe ¾” deep. It is in very nice condition with minimal wear. It has been hand polished.
