This old porcelain set is beautifully decorated with a variety of birds, each represented with a male and female. The transfer decals are featured in the center with an embellished gold garland detail encircling the design and a pale yellow to green luster edge over a scalloped pattern blank. The birds are all nicely detailed in beautiful colors. The deep platter, with a more pronounced scallop edge, features a gorgeous Chinese pheasant cock with the subdued hen in the background. The four plates feature a different variety of pheasant, mallard ducks, a type of quail and peacocks. All of the designs have the R.K. Beck, artist signature. Only one plate, the peacocks, has the Sterling China, green crown mark on the back.
The platter measures about 12 ¾” by 10 ¼” and sits about 1 ½” off the table. The plates measure about 8 3/8” in diameter. They are all in good, used condition with light wear. There is minor rub and scratch wear to the decals and the luster show a little more wear, especially around the edges. The porcelain is age crazed but there are no chips, cracks or other damage to the pieces.
Priced and sold as the set of five pieces.
