This is an old figural display advertising Old Grand-Dad whiskey. This bust was regularly used for advertising the Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey from the 1940’s through the 1960’s. These figures were found on back bars, restaurant bars and places that sold packaged liquor. The hollow bust is made of a composition material like Elastolin or polystyrene. The gentleman has nice detail down to a pair of open, wire rim glasses. Across the base it reads; Old Grand-Dad - Head of the Bourbon Family.
It measures about 12 3/8” tall and 8” across at the shoulders and the base is about 6 3/8” across the front and 5 ¼” deep. It is in very nice condition with minor scuff wear to the original finish and no chips or cracks. Some of the paint is wearing thin on the shoulders as shown in the close-up. It appears the newer felt has been put on the bottom.
