This is an old, painted aluminum malt canister for Carnation Malted Milk. The flowers are raised and the writing is recessed into the canister. These covered tins were commonly found on the back bar of old soda fountains in the early 1900’s and into the 1950’s. They were made to hold the powdered malt for making malts as opposed to shakes. They were provided by different companies to advertise their product and keep their company name in view. This one with the white and vivid red would have stood out. The logo is on one side only. It has its original, polished aluminum lid.
It measures about 8 ½” to the top of the lid knob and about 6 1/4" in diameter at the base. It is in very nice original condition with light use wear. There is a minor amount of paint loss on the flowers and in the words; Malted Milk. Otherwise there are minor scratches to the paint. The bottom has a small dents, scuff and scratch wear and paint loss as shown in the photos. The lid is in very nice condition with minor dents and scratches.
