This old woodworking tool is a try square made by the Stanley tool company. The handle is wood, perhaps oak, with a reddish finish and it has brass fittings and a blued steel blade. The blade has 1/8” increments across the top edge of both sides. One side of the handle is marked Stanley and the blade is marked; Stanley - Made in U.S.A. - No. 20 - 6 Inch.
The blade has increment up to 6” but the actual length is about 7 3/8” by 1 ½” wide. The handle portion measures about 4 ½” long by 1 7/16” by ½”. It is in fairly good original condition with some nick and scuff wear and loss of finish on the handle from general use. The brass has some discoloration and blotchy because it still retains some of the original finish and has not been striped or polished. There is minor wear to the bluing on the blade but there is some scratch wear and a little surface rust on one edge.
