This old knife was traditionally used for slicing bread. I see no maker on either the ferrule or the blade but the blade is faintly etched “Bread”. The knife has a long blade and a round, slightly tapered wood handle that has a few small flowers painted on it. The flowers may or may not be original but they are on the same side that the blade is etched. I believe this is probably from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s and it would look very nice with an old bread board.
Overall it measures about 13 1/8” in length and the blade portion measures almost 8” long. The widest varies slightly but measures about 1 1/8” wide. It is in nice but used condition with age wear, some pitting and scratches to the metal. This has been used and sharpened over the years but appears to have a nice edge. The wood handle has some scratch wear and stains and the paint is worn.
