This old vase is one of the Grecian influenced vases made by the Schafer and Vater company of Germany. The handled urn has a relief design of a Grecian woman who appears to be tossing sprays of flowers that she is taking from the tray that a young child is balancing on its head. A dog seems to be a part of the frolicking. The design is on the front only of this soft paste porcelain but there is ornamentation on the base and on the neck of both the front and back. The S & V crown mark is embossed on the bottom as well as a four digit number which might be 8212 but I am unable to make out for sure.
It measures about 5” high, about 3 1/8” in diameter at the middle and the base measures about 2 ¼” in diameter and is in good condition with minimal wear and no damage. Although I have cleaned it, it still seems a bit soiled or blotchy in color, especially on the back.
