This old glass tray features the beauty of Mt. Rushmore and the statement; Shrine of Democracy - Black Hills, South Dakota. It is made of a translucent black or smoke colored glass with the painted design on top and gold accents. On the back are facts about the monument such as sizes and cost. This comes in its original gift box with the original clear plastic slip-on lid. The label on the box reads; Souvenir Tray Gifts by Houze Art. which I believe was in Point Marion, Pennsylvania. These trays were often used as ashtrays in the 1950's and 60's and the turquoise would certainly lend itself to that period.
The tray is slightly tapered in the middle section but measures about 3 7/8" by 4 3/4" with the edges flared about 1/2" off the table. It is in very good condition with little to no wear. The box is in good condition with a little discoloration on the back. The plastic lid is lightly scratched but overall in good condition.
