This old fan is made of plastic slats with hand painted images of Hawaii. The top and bottom of each slat has a open work, filigree design The plain portion of the slats acts as the artist’s canvas. The Hawaiian Islands are featured in the center and are flanked by a palm tree and pineapples on one side and a hula dancer on the other. “Aloha from Hawaii” is near the finger tips of the dancer. The outer slats of the fan have an embossed floral design and one is embossed Made in Hong Kong. The slats are woven together at the top and the bottom is pinned with a loop. A tasseled cord hangs at the bottom. The fan comes in its original cardboard box that has glass in the top of the lid. I believe this is from the 1950's or 1960's.
The fan measures about 12 ¼” across when opened and 7” in length when closed. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage. The box measures about 7 5/16” long by 1 3/16” wide and is in nice condition with minor edge wear. There is a tear along the top edge as shown in the photos.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
