This old shoe stand was probably used in a shoe shop or old department store. It has an oval, beveled glass platform with a small metal ledge so that a shoe can be positioned with the platform angled rather than flat. The 1/4" thick glass has a 1/2" edge bevel. There are thumb screws which allow adjustments for both shoe angle and height. The base is a nickeled brass cap over a cast iron weight. On the bottom of the cast base it reads; M.A. Heimann Mfg. Co. St. Louis, Mo..
The nickel is in fairly good condition but does show some light pitting and a few small dents. The glass measures about 5" by 11" and is in fairly good condition except for some small nicks along the edge. The overall height measures about 16 1/2" at its lowest position to more than 20" at its highest position.
