This colorful old cocoa tin was from Reid Murdoch & Company of Illinois under the Monarch brand. The four sides are basically the same with the majestic, lion logo trademark in the center of each panel. The difference of the sides is the company location at the bottom; Los Angeles, New York, Boston & Pittsburgh. Colorful, painted columns are on the four corners. The edge of the hinged lid reads; Breakfast and across the top it reads; Quality for 70 Years. Since the panels show that the company was established in 1853 it would have to be presumed that this tin is from the early 1920’s.
It measures 3 ¾” square by 6” tall and is in very nice condition with good gloss, and minor wear. It has minimal scratches and small dents. The top edge of the lid is worn and the top has some discoloration and scuffs.
