This strand of old Christmas garland is made of glass beads of assorted shapes and colors. Some look like, what is called, “mercury glass”, some of them are translucent, some have paint on the inside and some have the color applied to the outside. The blue beads are faceted and the pairs of silver beads are actually two attached balls as one bead. The other pieces are cylinders that are tapered at both ends and have two dotted lines around them. The pieces are strung on a thin cotton cord.
The bead portion of the strand measures about 90” in length. These are shiny and colorful but show wear. I believe all of the cylinders were red at one time but most of the red is worn off. There are some missing beads in the pattern, some broken pieces (maybe 10) and paint wear. All that said they would brighten up a tree or be fun to use for making some other holiday decorations.
