Vintage Reference Book - McClane’s Standard Fishing Encyclopedia - Hardbound Edition
This is a great book for anyone interested in the sport of fishing. McClane’s Standard Fishing Encyclopedia and International Angling Guide is set up alphabetically with definitions for all things fish and fishing related. Besides identifying a large variety of fish it has sections on cooking fish, fly tying and descriptions of flies, knot tying for flies, live bait, spinning rods, boat and surf fishing, basic first aid and more. It has many black and white illustrations and some color photographs. There are over 1000 pages including the bibliography. This is a 1965, second printing of this edition which edited by A.J. McClane and illustrated by Richard E. Younger. It was published by Holt, Rinehart & Winston. Hardcover, no dust jacket.
It is in fairly good condition with light wear. The pages of the book are unmarked, fresh and fairly clean with minor soiling particularly on the outside edge. The linen cover shows edge and corner wear and the spine generally tight. The previous owners name, “Bill Trout” is written in ink in the front cover page.
