This old, Bakelite / Catalin poker chip caddy has two hundred unusual Catalin chips. The holder is a rich green and well marbled with yellow and dark matrix. It has a matching green knob for a carrying handle. It has eight slots for the chips and two rectangular slots for the decks of cards. It comes with 200 chips that are octagonal. There are one hundred in the butterscotch yellow and fifty each of red and blue/green. They are all mottled and translucent to some degree when held up to the light (see the backlit photo). The yellow ones have a whitish marbling and the green ones have yellow marbling and look more blue when held to the light. The red ones aren’t as translucent and don’t show the orange marbling as much. The chips are quite unique because of their eight sided shape. The all vary slightly in thickness and are in general, a little bit thinner than many Catalin or Bakelite chips. This is being sold as shown, the caddy plus the chips.
The holder measures about 7 ¼” long by 4 1/16” wide and 3 ¼” high, excluding the handle which is about ¾“ high. It is in very nice condition with minimal wear and no chips or cracks. The chips measure about 1 3/8” in diameter with varying thicknesses. The red ones must be slightly thinner than the other two colors since 50 of them don’t stack as high as the others. They are in good condition with minor play wear but no damage.
