This depression glass plate in the pretty American Sweetheart pattern is from the MacBeth Evans Glass Company. This patter was in production from 1930 - 1936. The milky white color with a faint bluish cast is called Monax. (The picture makes the blue a little darker becuse of the background and the translucency of the glass.) This plate is referred to as a dinner plate or small serving plate. Many of the dinner, luncheon and salad plates have a decorative band with a plain center which would be much more conducive to eating off of. This plate has the design in the center with the wide panels of design filling the entire plate. It’s almost as if a doily is covering the plate and is ready to be filled with teacakes or cookies. Whatever its use it is quite attractive.
It measures about 10 5/8” in diameter and is in very good condition with minimal wear, no chips, cracks or other damage.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
