This colorful tin, wind up toy was made in Japan by the T.P.S. company. According to its original box it’s called “Mechanical Skip Rope Animals”. The long, skinny base looks like grass with litho’d flowers. At one end there’s a dog like figure wearing orange overalls and a plaid shirt. In the dog’s right paw is the end of a “jump rope” that is made of a stiff metal wire that is covered with a piece of plastic. The other end of the “rope” is attached to a post that has a squirrel perched on it. In the center, attached to a thin wire that’s connected to the bear’s arm, there is a little girl bear. She’s dressed in a lithographed, striped shirt and little Mary Jane shoes. There is a yellow flannel skirt around her waist. When wound by the attached key the dogs arm goes around which turns the rope and also makes it look like the little bear is jumping. As the jump rope goes around the squirrel rocks back and forth. The action is fun and it works quite well. Below the squirrel it is marked; Made in Japan with the T.P.S., 3 finger logo. The base measures about 8” long by 1 5/8” wide. The dog measures about 4 ¾” tall and it measures about 4 ½” high to the top of the squirrel. The tin and litho are in very nice condition showing good gloss and minimal scuff and scratch wear. It comes with its original box.
The box has colorful graphics with colorful little animals all over it. It also has the Made in Japan and T.P.S logo. It measures about 8 7/8” by 5” by 1 7/8” and is in nice condition with some creases, edge and corner wear and a few small tears on the edges. The top of the lid is slightly depressed.
