This is an “Old Timer Gramophone” toy with its original box. The box says it “Plays Real Music” and “Plays a Favorite Tune” but both statements are an exaggeration! It does make a melodic noise of a tune that is indistinguishable. The external horn phonograph it made of plastic with a paper label on the front that reads; Old Timer. On the side of the pink cabinet is a little crank. When the crank is wound a melodic noise that reminds me of a jack-in-the-box is emitted from within. The plastic horn bracket fits snuggly into the base but does allow for some movement to angle the horn as desired. It has a dummy record that looks like a miniature 78 record. The little record is grooved and removable but it has no function other than looks. The case measures about 5 5/8” square and it measures about 2 3/8” high to the turntable or 8 ½” high from the tabletop to the top edge of the horn. It is in very good condition with minimal scuff wear and no damage. It comes with its original box.
The box has fun graphics with the opposing sides being the same. It states that this authentic scale model is a perfect decoration and a real conversation piece. It was manufactured by Handi-craft Co. of St. Louis, Mo. And it was probably made in the 1960’s. The box measures about 6 3/8” by 5 7/8” by 9” high and is in generally good condition light wear, creases and small tears. There is a torn spot on one lower edge which I have shown in the photos.
