This old metal jewelry box has the graceful lines generally seen in Art Nouveau pieces. The oval box has a domed lid with a flowing design enhanced with leaves. The lower portion of the box is very simple with only a raised edge detail and it sits on four short legs. Inside is a pale pink, silk-like fabric lining with a braided trim. On the bottom it is marked with 93 which is probably a design number. It appears to be a white metal such as spelter with a gold colored gilding over a copper colored base.
It measures about 4 ¼” wide by 2 ½” deep and nearly 3” high at the dome in the lid. It is in good condition with minor wear and no damage. There is a little copper color showing through on some areas. There is also some faint streak marks and some dark spots of discoloration. The thin lining inside is in good with minimal wear. Some of the braid has come unglued from the edges.
