This is an old, Aloxite hone for sharpening safety razor blades. The concave stone has a foiled paper label on the back side that reads; No.45 Aloxite Brand Safety Blade Hone - Manufactured by The Carborundum Co. Niagara Falls N.Y. U.S.A.. It was licensed under a patent number that dates it to 1927. It comes with the original box that has a foiled label and a paper leaflet that has instructions for using the palm held hone.
The box measures about 2” by 2 13/16” by ½” and the stone fits snuggly inside. The stone appears to be in very good condition with minimal, if any wear. The box is in fair condition with some soiling, scuffing and edge wear. The pamphlet measures about 4 ¾” by 5 ¼” when opened. It is inn nice condition with fold crease, minimal edge wear and a stain on the back where I assume a price sticker once was.
