Vintage, Dolls of All Nations - Martha Washington Duchess Doll with Original Box
This old doll is made of hard plastic and was made by the Duchess Doll Corporation. She’s dressed in her original clothes, a pretty, pale pinkish lavender gown with sparkly pinwheels and a large ribbon trim. She is also wearing a white felt hat adorned with a feather. She also has her original panties and a “crinoline” like half slip which are both stapled on. She has wavy white hair, hazel dark blue sleep eyes and a small closed mouth. Our first First Lady never looked so good! She is stiff legged with painted shoes but her head and arms are jointed. On her back is the company name and; Design Copyright 1948. She comes in her original cardboard box that identifies her as Martha Washington 7 ½”. I can’t make out what series number she is. The box has its inner liner and cellophane window. I believe she is from the late 1940’s -1950’s.
She actually measures about 7 ¼” excluding the hat brim and is in very good condition with minimally mussed hair and crisp, unsoiled clothes. The box measures about 10 7/8” by 11 7/8” by 2 1/8” and is in good condition with minimal edge and crease wear. The cellophane is in tact and the inner liner has a tear.
