This is an old, canvas, Eagle Brand - Minute Man Type water bag. There is an image of an eagle as a part of the brand logo on the front which also reads; Controlled Exudation & Evaporation. It continues with the following; Keeps Water Cool” - H. Wenzel Tent & Duck Co. - Manufacturers - St. Louis. There is an image of a minute man and it states that; No Soaking Necessary - Ready for Instant Use. There is nothing on the back side. It has a large, painted wood handle for hand carrying and a braided rope handle which was typically used to hang over the radiator cap of an old car. It also has a wood spout where the cork goes. One of the best parts of this bag is the original paper tag. It states that the bag is made of 100% American Canvas - No Japanese or European Canvas Used! The back side has directions for use.
It measures about 17 ½” long from the top of the handle to the bottom of the bag and 11 ¼” wide. Overall it is in nice condition with minor wear. It does have some stains and soiling but it appears it was never actually used. There paint on the wood is in very good condition. The label, which measures about 3 1/8” by 6 1/8”, has some tears and creases but it adds so much to the history of the bag.
