This pretty, enameled pin is called a Veteran’s Jewel for continuous membership in the Rebekah Degree. This one was given to a sister with 25 years of continuous membership in the Order. The Degree of Rebekah was established within the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in 1851. Every aspect of the pin from the green and pink colors to the V R D (Veteran of the Rebekah Degree), to the links and the olive wreath, is symbolic to the Rebekah. The metal is gold in color and has no tarnish but is not marked so it is not being sold as a karat piece. On the back it reads; 1802 WYO. This may indicated the Lodge number perhaps in Wyoming. The bar has a locking clasp on the back. The pink looks more lavender to me but it is called “pink”.
The bar measures about 7/8” wide and the jewel measures about 7/8” in diameter. It measures about 1 9/16” in length. Overall it is very nice condition. There is a small piece of the enamel chipped off one of the stripes on the left side of the bar.
