This ceramic figurine is an old music box. The little girl sitting on the fence resembles a Holly Hobby character with her round face and beady brown eyes. She’s wearing a large straw hat adorned with flowers and overalls decorated with a butterfly and paint splotches. Sitting on either side of her is a little blue bird and a gray squirrel. Little flowers nestle in the long grass around her bare feet. The music box is housed in the round base and it is wound by rotating the plastic platform on the bottom. There is no on/off, the music starts when it is wound and goes until it runs down. The foiled paper label on the bottom shows that this is a Schmid, Tune No. 241 - Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree - Made in Japan. Stamped on the wood base it appears to read; (copyright) 1975 - Panda Prints, Inc. - From Schmid Collection.
It measures about 6 ¾” high and the base measures about 3 7/8” in diameter. It is in very good, working condition with minimal wear and no damage.
