This old ice cream dipper was manufactured by the Erie Specialty Co. of Erie Pennsylvania around 1909. The conical bowl with the molded shaft are made of polished aluminum with the thumb lever, rod. wiper and screws being nickeled brass. The thumb lever is marked; Quick And Easy and the company name are on the wiper. This is large for a conical ice cream scoop, it's a 6 (six scoops to the quart) which is marked on the wiper inside the bowl. The Erie Specialty Company was prolific during the first part of the 1900's and made many varied scoops. These were an oddity. You scooped the ice cream and dispensed it onto a small handled tray then placed the cone over the ice cream and turned it over to serve the filled cone. You could of course serve the pyramid in a sundae dish as a novelty.
It measures about 11 3/8" in length. The bowl measures about 3 1/4 " in diameter and 2 3/4" deep inside. It is in very good condition with minimal wear. It is polished, not replated and not lacquered. Even the blonde wood handle is in very good condition. The wiper mechanism works well.
