This comical looking, old whimsy is one of the many Japanese "smoking heads". This one has the song lyrics; By the light of the Silvery Moon written across the front along with some musical notes. The bald man with his mouth agape has a distressed look with perplexed eyes and sagging, bushy eyebrows. A lit cigarette could be placed in his mouth and the smoke would stream out his ears where there are holes. The paint is under glaze except for the black on the base which has a matte finish. It is marked Japan on the bottom and was probably made between the late 1930's through the 1950's.
It measures about 5 ¼” tall and is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage.
