This small hammer may look like a toy but it was actually used to break up hard candy. It looks like a miniature, cross pein sledge hammer and appears to be made of nickel or nickel over a non magnetic metal. Molded into the end of the handle, written in script, it reads; Dairy Maid. These were apparently in boxes of candy sold by the Dairy Maid Confectioners Co. in the 1950’s. It would have been used on things like peanut brittle and rock candy.
It measures about 3 5/8” long and the head measures about 1” across by 7/16”. It is in very nice condition with minimal wear.
