This old, porcelain is a beautiful representation of a peacock with flowing tail feather. It is fully glazed in rich blues and green with a cream ground and brown tone accents. The majestic bird is standing on a raised perch so the its plumage drapes behind him. All of the color is under glaze. On the bottom it is incised with the number 7596 and along the outer edge it is stamped Germany although it is only partially legible. It also appears that there is something else stamped under the glaze but it is not legible at all.
The base measures about 9 ¼” by 4 ½” at the tail but the overall length is about 10” and it measures about 8 5/8” tall. It is in very nice condition with minimal wear. There are some dull spots on the tail section where the glaze separated and didn’t cover. I have tried to show this in the photos but it doesn’t show that well. This was obviously a factory flaw, therefore, this may have been considered a second by the company. This issue has been taken into consideration in the price of an otherwise beautiful piece.
