This sleek wind up car was made by Louis Marx & Co. of the United States. It has a lithographed steel body which is red with yellow and black detailing. This version of the Tricky Taxi is from the late 1940's and early 1950's. It has the checker design running from the windshield to the rear and the word TAXI above the windshield. It has a drive wheel and an idle wheel at the rear and the small wheel in the center which allows it to be "tricky". It was made to run to the edge of a table but change directions before falling off. It has dummy front wheels and an attached front bumper and grill. On the rear of the top is the Marx logo, Made in United States of America - New York, N.Y..
It measures about 4 ½” long and 1 ½” high. It is in good condition with minor wear and scratches and the clockwork motor works well. There is a little bit of blue paint on one side which is shown in the photos. It comes with an old key, however not a marked, Marx key.
