This old porcelain cup and saucer is decorated with the beautiful blue willow design in the rich cobalt blue generally referred to as flow blue (much prettier blue than the pictures depict). When the cup is held to the light you can see the lithophane, an oriental woman with incredible detail, in the bottom of the cup. This shape is generally referred to as a demitasse cup. On the bottom of the saucer is the original blue, oval paper label that reads; Made in Japan. I believe this is from the 1940’s or 1950’s.
The cup measures about 2 ¼” high and 2 3/16” in diameter excluding the handle. The saucer measures about 4 7/16” in diameter. They are both in very nice condition with minimal wear and no damage.
