These colorful maple leaves are old pierced earrings. They are made of a thin slab of abalone shell which is carved and detailed to resemble a Canadian maple leaf. They are very colorful and glossy in shades of blues with highlights of green, purple, white and black veining. The abalone slab has a backing to which a silver colored earring post is attached. The earring backs are silver in color and marked SURG for surgical steel. These come in their original gift box from Pan Pacific Canada. I believe these are from the 1980's.
The leaves measures about 5/8” by 5/8” and the earrings are in very good condition with minimal wear. The gift box measures about 1 7/8” by 2 ¼” and nice condition with light edge and corner wear, some scuffs and light soiling.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
