Anyone familiar with Schafer and Vater will recognize this as being one of their pieces. This old figurine is one of a series of tall, skinny singers made by the S & V company of Germany in the early 1900's. I have had this once before only on the front were the words; Mr Tenor. This one doesn't have anything on the front but looks like he would fit in with the famous "Three Tenors". The detail is very nice complete with bags under his eyes and tiny pleats and buttons on his shirt. At the bottom edge of the back it is stamped with a 4 digit number; 8551. There appear to be no marks on the bottom but there are some blotches of paint.
It measures about 7 1/2" tall and is in very nice condition with minor wear and no damage. There is wear to the black paint, which I have shown in the photos, especially on the front of the baggy pants.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
