These old ink blotters are advertising the Red Book - Chicago’s Classified Telephone Directory.
One is on the humorous side with a comic horse and the phrase “Just Good Horse Sense to Use the Red Book”. It measures about 3 ¼” by 5 15/16” and is in fairly good, unused condition with minor edge and corner wear and minor soiling.
The second blotter states that the Red Book is “Your Wartime Where-to-Buy-IT Guide”. The date on the image of the phone book is 1944. It measures about 3 ¼” by 6” and is in used condition. It has edge and corner creases and wear, some soiling, a small edge tear and ink stains on the back from usage.
Priced and sold as the pair.
