This old book is an anthology of prose and illustrations by the author and cartoonist, James Thurber. It has 369 pages filled with stories and line drawings from works such as My World and Welcome to It, The War Between Men & Women and many others. Because it was produced under wartime conditions it has an interesting statement about it being complete and unabridged and conforming with the Government regulations for saving paper. It has a 1945 and was published by Grosset & Dunlap. It has the previous owner's name, written in pen on the title page.
It measures about 5 ½” by 8 ¾” by 1 1/8” and is in fairly good condition but not without a few problems. The inside pages are generally crisp and clean and the spine is tight. There are a few lightly soiled pages and the page edges are lightly soiled as shown in the photos. The linen cover has problems. It has edge and corner wear but it also appears that perhaps tape or something has “eaten away” part of the finish with a large swath down the front and elsewhere on the cover.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
