Before computers there were slide rules. This was sold by the Frederick Post Co. and it is their No. 1447. It has the oval Post logo and was made in Japan by the Hemmi company. I believe it is from the 1950’s or early 1960’s.
I believe the definition is A [B CI C] D K - [S L T] . The back side has a white plastic conversion chart and also includes some basic trig relationships. Please look at the pictures closely for specifics as I am going by research and do not personally use a slide rule.
It appears to be made of bamboo with a celluloid like plastic covering. It has the slide magnifier that is marked Japan on one side and Sun Hemmi on the other with the radiating sun logo. It comes with what I believe is its original, rigid plastic case which is marked; Post. Molded into the end is Hemmi - Japan.
Over all the rule measures 11” by 1 1/8” and it appears to be in good condition with minor wear. The magnifier has some light scratch wear. The case measures about 11” by 1 5/8” and is in good with minimal wear. The previous owners name in written on the inside sleeve.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
