This is a quaint example of an old motto poem that was given as a gift for Christmas. The poem is titled "Mother Mine" and begins; You were the first within my heart In the dear old cradle days…... And goes on to give deep tribute to Dearest, nearest, Mother Mine. There is no reference to the poet. The picture of a house in a wooded area is done in soft blues, greens and grays with the yellow roof accent. The painted wood frame has a stippled texture with glass and it has the original paper back. On the back is a label that reads; Motto Graph and is hand written; To Mother - From Mike and Tiny - Date Dec. 25 1921. There is a company name at the top that I can’t quite make out. It presently has no hanging device.
It measures about 6 3/16" by 8 3/4" and is in nice condition with some wear. The glass is in tact with no damage. There is wear to the lower left hand corner of the frame as shown in the pictures. The paper on the back shows wear and edge tears and is loose along the lower edges.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
