This old needle tin, with Nipper on the lid, still has 1 of the original 8; Semi-Permanent and Inter-changable Tungs-Tone Needles. These needles replaced the standard steel needle and would play 78 records on old wind-up phonographs like Victors and Victrolas. It has the classic logo of Nipper looking into the phonograph horn from the Victor Talking Machine Co. of Camden New Jersey and the last patent date is 1924. These were Soft Tone needles and according to the fine print on the back; With care it (each needle) should play from 100 to 300 Records. Directions are written inside the tin in both English and I believe, Spanish. The colors on the hinged lid are bluish-green, gray and gold.
There is only one of the original needles remaining in the tin.
It measures about 2 1/16" by 1" and is in good condition with light edge wear and discoloration. The needle appears to be in good but used condition.
