This is an old, wooden file box that appears to be made of oak with a decal across the front that reads; Gold Medal Flour Home Service Recipes. Inside are the old divider tabbed with standard headings you’d find in an old cook book. A few of the cards have advertising illustrations but most of them are blank except for the heading. The box includes many of the old recipes, most them calling for the use of Gold Medal Flour. In the top of the lid is a paper label advertising Washburn-Crosby Co. Foods with a message from Betty Crocker. The box has dove-tailed corners and a hinged lid that has a bit of detail rather than being cut straight across. This takes standard 3” x 5” index cards so it is perfect for adding some recipes of your own. The outside of the box, except for the bottom, is finished but the inside is not.
It measures about 5 5/8” wide by 3 3/4” deep by 4 1/8” high and is in nice original condition with minor wear. The lid insert has been scribbled on with pencil as seen in the photos. The dividers and recipe cards have minor wear and soiling.
