This old, German porcelain mug features Buster Brown sharing tea with his sister Mary Jane. These characters, created by Richard Outcault, were used to decorate many German porcelain pieces in the early 1900’s. This shape was often used for occupational shaving mugs but could easily be used for coffee or hot chocolate. On the bottom is a mark that is very difficult to make out but appears to have the words Crown, China and Germany and there are three crowns shown.
It measures about 3 5/8" high and 3 5/8" in diameter at the top and is in very nice condition with no cracks chips or other damage. The decal transfer is in good condition except at the curve near the bottom where it was originally not applied well. A thin gold line was once around the bottom edge of the mug and down the handle but these are worn almost completely off.
