This old, vertical pocket tin was for Half and Half tobacco tin. The tobacco was a combination of Burley & Bright tobacco and Contentment tobacco which used the slogan; A Cargo of “Contentment” in the Bowl of Any Pipe. Half and Half smoking tobacco was a product of The American Tobacco Company. On one side panel it reads; Factory No. 1 Virginia. Across the top of the hinged lid and down the sides are remnants of the original 1 3/4 Ounce tax stamp. The patent under the hinge dates this to 1950.
The empty tin measures about 4 ¼” high by 3” wide by 7/8” deep and is in very nice condition with good gloss and minimal dent and scratch wear. The tax remaining tax label is discolored and worn, barely legible.
